Gordon Heisch began building high end custom homes and renovations on Vancouver’s West side and in West Vancouver in 1979. He first worked on Salt Spring Island in 2001 and moved there permanently in 2003.
In Gordon’s words,
"What I found appealing in building on Salt Spring Island was the style of construction – a blend of timber and conventional hand cut stick framing on large building sites that for the most part were not restricted by side yard setbacks common in Vancouver. The degree of quality and choice of materials required by client and architects blend well with my desire to perform that kind of work. The building sites I have seen and worked on are incredible. They are so diverse in location and topography – it could be waterfront, forested or on a private Island – each one provides a fresh challenge."
"I have always felt that construction is a collaboration between the architect, the client, the contractor and his team. The project should be a positive experience for all parties involved. It’s important the client enjoys the experience. ‘It can’t be done’ is not something you will hear us say, ever."
